Interconnected:

Jesus drew near those most easily dismissed because he was so strongly convinced that nothing separated him from them and nothing separated them from God. Nothing and no one is separate from the rest. We are interconnected to each other and to God.

God’s Compassion:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus shows us how His Father is infinitely patient and compassionate towards our growth of faith in Him. He always tries to find ways to encourage us instead of condemning us. We should never take God’s compassion and patience for granted.

Faith involves the openness of the person to the grace of the Lord, to recognize that all is gift, all is grace. What a treasure is hidden in the little phrase: 'thank you!'

- Pope Benedict XVI (10-14-07)
