Teach Me to Rely on You:

Generous and abundant God, stretch me into becoming dangerously unselfish. Let my family, friends, neighbors and even my enemies find you in me. Bountiful God in whose image I am made, give me opportunities to share the abundance you have given me. Teach me to rely on you for all my needs. Amen.
Hypocrisy – Faith:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus cautions us from being misled by the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. We can easily be mislead by the preaching, praises, promises of others. The truth of a person is revealed more fully through the quality and degree of his/her Christ-like love for others especially the needy.

No tongue can express the greatness of the love which Jesus Christ bears to our souls. He did not wish that between Him and His servants there should be any other pledge than Himself, to keep alive the remembrance of Him.

- Saint Peter of Alcantara (1499-1562)

My confidence is placed in God who does not need our help for accomplishing his designs. Our single endeavor should be to give ourselves to the work and to be faithful to him, and not to spoil his work by our shortcomings.

- from a letter of Isaac Jogues to a Jesuit friend in France, September 12, 1646, a month before he died.
