Praise:

God of every race and nation, in the beginning you fashioned our human nature and stood over us with love as the families of the world grew in your sight. This day your Holy Spirit inspires us to climb over the walls that divide us and be bound as one people, one family of love, proclaiming your glory. Your love for us in Christ binds us in unity and love.

“Vine and Branches”:

In today’s Gospel Jesus asserts that our lives and what we do will not bear the “spiritual fruits” of peace, joy, love, mercy, service and the like unless we are united with the Lord in the Spirit. Human efforts alone are fragile, fickle, often founded on fame and falsehood. Thus they cannot bear good fruit.

Oh my Lord! How true it is that whoever works for you is paid in troubles! And what a precious price to those who love you if we understand its value.

- Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

The Lord does not look so much at the magnitude of anything we do as at the love with which we do it.

- Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)
