Healing Sin and Pain:

God gets hurt in ways we can only imagine—or never imagine. The hurt caused by our sin so pains God that he employs his omnipotence to eliminate it, without eliminating us. He is hurt because we are hurt; his pain is a pain of compassion.

Skepticism – Faith:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus cured and forgave the sins of the paralytic. However, the Scribes were skeptical. Are we not also guilty of being skeptical when we hear of the miraculous cures of people? Should we not be less skeptical but be more faith driven and positive in our response?

Since God can keep working in you, and He knows how to use all the ways, all the paths, all the means for His purpose, and since He has given you free will -- it is not His fault if you make no progress.

- Saint Anthony Mary Zaccaria (1502-1539)
