Strength of the Poor:
The poor man, being dispossessed of self, is flexible in the hands of God and available and dedicated to others. Generously and tirelessly he strives to overcome the obstacles to love, for God’s strength dwells in him.
Response – Faith:
In today’s Gospel, Jesus called Peter and others to be His Apostles. They responded willingly because their openness to God’s Truth made the call irresistible. Are we open or blind to God’s Truth? Do we live a Christ-centered or self-centered life daily?

A good tree, that is, a good heart as well as a soul on fire with charity can do nothing but good and holy works. For this reason Saint Augustine said: "Love, and do what you will," namely, possess love and charity and then do what you will. It is as if he had said: Charity is not able to sin.
