My Spirit Rejoices:

Though Mary had no specific information, she recognized that the day of salvation was at hand and took time to rejoice. Take a few moments from your last-minute holiday preparations to celebrate the deep joy of Christmas.

AC:

In today’s Gospel Mary praises God in her “Magnificat” Prayer. Mary rejoices because she recognises how abundantly blessed she is to be chosen to serve in God’s plan. How often do we praise God for our vocation and the daily opportunities to love and serve Him and His people?

We must pray without tiring, for the salvation of mankind does not depend on material success nor on sciences that cloud the intellect. Neither does it depend on arms and human industries, but on Jesus alone.

- Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (1850-1917)

My soul at present is in perfect peace and joy.

—Mother Teresa
