Words of Life
The Widow's Offering
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything–all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-42)
Selflessness: Many good people do good things even daily. The Gospel on the "Widow's mite challenges us to "give till it hurts." If we live a selfless life of services out of love for God, then we are beginning to taste what it means to love God like Christ Our Lord.
Wisdom: Wisdom is different from intelligence. If our thinking and living conform to God's ways, that's wisdom. Intelligence may help us get what we want and earn us adulation, but it will neither bring peace nor move people to love God which wisdom can.
Blessings: God has given us abundant blessings; count them! Never, compare what we have with others and complain about it. Instead, learn to be more grateful to God. Then, share your blessings with others, andreach out to them with compassion
