Jesus as Friend:

To treat Jesus as a friend instead of just as God is to let him be a friend—and this is one way to grow in awareness of him as a friend.

Christian Challenges:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus asserts that His Good News will be constantly challenging us to change our lives for the better. Christianity is not about a God who merely solve all our problems and heal our illnesses. Christ was first Crucified on the Cross, before His Resurrection for our salvation.

The air that we breathe, the bread that we eat, the heart which throbs in our bosoms, are no more necessary for man that he may live as a human being, than is prayer for the Christian that he may live as a Christian.

- Saint John Eudes (1601-1680)

Our wish, our object, our chief preoccupation must be to form Jesus in ourselves, to make his spirit, his devotion, his affections, his desires and his disposition live and reign there. All our religious exercises should be directed to this end. It is the work which God has given us to do unceasingly.
