Christian Life:
The Christian life, the life of grace, is meant to be an ongoing experience of passionate living on every level: body, emotions, mind and will. The Christian life, passionately lived in love, is meant to give us life to the full, joy to the full.
Children – Faith:
In today’s Gospel, Jesus affirms that a child is very precious in God’s eyes yet so vulnerable in our hands. We can nurture them to be “saints” or “destroy” them through our non-Christ like upbringing. How well do we fulfil our great responsibilities as adults and parents?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hold your eyes on God and leave the doing to him. That is all the doing you have to worry about.
- Saint Jeanne de Chantal (1572-1641)
She was full of faith, yet all her life had been tormented by thoughts against it. While apparently enjoying the peace and easiness of mind of souls who have reached a high state of virtue, she suffered such interior trials that she often told me her mind was so filled with all sorts of temptations and abominations that she had to strive not to look within herself...But for all that suffering her face never lost its serenity, nor did she once relax in the fidelity God asked of her. And so I regard her as one of the holiest souls I have ever met on this earth.
- St. Vincent de Paul comments on Saint Jeanne de Chantal adapted from Butler’s Lives of the Saints
