Joy and Humility:

Being present, humble, listening, seeking and making the time to sit in silence and wonder at the stillness in the air are part of our call as Christians. We must never lose the childlike zeal of wonder, for in wonder lies joy and humility

Mary’s Sorrow:

In today’s Gospel, we see Mary, the Mother of Jesus broken but unshaken in her faith. The Father’s Will of saving the world costs Mary and Her Son immense pain. How much sacrifice and pain are we willing to bear for the sake of building God’s Kingdom on earth?

Mother, who didst stand by Him whilst He hung upon the cross,Pray for us. Mother, who didst receive Him into thine arms when He was dead, Pray for us.Mother, who didst see Him buried in the tomb,Pray for us.

—Litany of the Seven Dolours of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The souls the Lord in his merciful designs has entrusted to each one of you, that you may lead them to salvation, will be saved and at the end of your days you will be able to say with the Divine Redeemer: "[Father] I kept those you had given me true to you name. I have watched over them and not one is lost (John 17:12)."

- Blessed Paolo Mana (1872-1952)
