Attaining the Lord:
The sinner scrambles to achieve satiety, but he ends up gulping air. The saint in giving up all self-centered clinging attains the Lord of the universe and all else with him.
Faith – Proof?:
In today’s Gospel, Thomas wanted proof before he believed in Jesus’ Resurrection. How much “proof” do we need from God before our belief in Him can be more committed? Ponder on how fast our earthly life is passing and contrast this with life eternal with our Risen Lord.
What will the years ahead bring us? What will man's future on earth be like? We are not given to know. However, it is certain that in addition to new progress there will unfortunately be no lack of painful experiences. But the light of divine mercy, which the Lord in a way wished to return to the world through Saint Faustina's charism, will illumine the way for the men and women of the third millennium. Jesus said to Sr Faustina: "Humanity will not find peace until it turns trustfully to divine mercy" (Diary, p. 132).
- Pope John Paul II (April 30, 2000)
"According to the teaching of Jesus Christ we human beings not only receive and experience God’s mercy but also are commanded to 'show mercy' to others."
—Pope John Paul II
