Daily Encounters:

Master Gardener, you are already present in every moment of my daily life. Teach me to discover and appreciate your presence in the people and places I encounter every day.

The Beatitudes:

In today’s Gospel the “Beatitudes” remind us of our need to be compassionate towards those who mourn, the hungry, the persecuted and abused. Jesus also urges us to be “poor in spirit,” be gentle and merciful to others. Ponder on each of these aspects of our faith and ask yourself, “How can I deepen my love for Our Lord?”

The example of the Saints encourages us to follow in their same footsteps and to experience the joy of those who trust in God, for the one true cause of sorrow and unhappiness for men and women is to live far from him.

- Pope Benedict XVI (Nov. 1, 2006)

The challenge of sainthood is to go where love takes me.
