Excess of Life:

The spiritual man in mythology, in literature and in the great world religions has an excess of life, he knows he has it, makes no apology for it, and finally recognizes that he does not even need to protect or guard it. It is not for him. It is for others. His life is not his own. His life is not about him. It is about God.

Reflection:

(Matthew 28:8-15)Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." Where, when, how do you "see" Jesus acting in your life? Is it when you try to minister to others?

God does not demand of us a feeling which we ourselves are incapable of producing. He loves us, he makes us see and experience his love, and since he has "loved us first," love can also blossom as a response within us.

- Pope Benedict XVI (Deus Caritas Est - God is Love, #17)
