Calm in the Storm:

How important it is to avoid being upset by the trials and troubles of this life, for these things always tend to contract the heart rather than opening it up to trust God.

Faith - "Fire":

It is very painful when our loved ones "prevent" us from living a faith that gives us deep meaning and fulfillment in life e.g. to join the priesthood and religious life, to baptize our child or to attend the Eucharist. We need to pray that they will be open to God's Truth.

The Greatest Power:

Truth is power, but only when one has patience and requires of it no immediate effect. And one must have no specific aims. Somehow, lack of an agenda is the greatest power. Sometimes it is better not to think in terms of plans; here months may mean nothing, and also years. Truth must be sought for its own sake, its holy, divine greatness.

It is he who, by encouraging knowledge of and love for Mary, leads the faithful to learn from the Virgin of the Magnificat how to read the signs of God in history and to acquire a wisdom that makes every man and every woman the architects of a new humanity.

- John Paul II (from "To honor Mary is to go to Jesus", November 15, 1995)
