Wednesday -- Jonah 3:1-10:
Jonah was called to confront the authorities. Are you called to do the same to your boss, Church leader, or government leader? If called to do so, send a memo, e-mail or letter to your congressional representative or some other person in authority, voicing your opinion of an important moral issue.
“Disbelief” - Faith:
In today’s Gospel Jesus reprimanded the crowd for their disbelief in Him in spite of the many miracles He had shown them. The signs of our “disbelief” in God are not in our lack of knowledge of Him, but in our lack of will to live what we believe. This is shown through our “lukewarm’ faith

Prayer, fasting, vigil and all other Christian activities, however good they may be in themselves, do not constitute the aim of our Christian life, although they serve as the indispensable means of reaching this end. The true aim of our Christian life consists in the acquisition of the Holy Spirit of God. As for fasts, and vigils, and prayer, and almsgiving, and every good deed done for Christ's sake, they are only means of acquiring the Holy Spirit of God.
- St. Seraphim of Sarov (1759-1833)
